I graduated from Trent University in 2005 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing as well as a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. I worked as a Registered Nurse at PRHC in the In-patient Mental Health and Addictions Program for 14 years. While working full time as an RN at the hospital, I returned to school in 2017 and completed a Master of Psychology at Adler Graduate and Professional School in Toronto. From 2019-2021, I worked in the Out Patient Mental Health and Addictions Program at PRHC as a Mental Health Therapist doing individual therapy, urgent care, group therapy and psychological testing.
My work is with adults dealing with trauma and the persisting and complex adaptations to overwhelming experience, mood disorders and anxiety. I have a passion for helping people that have experienced adversity or trauma in their life. I have training in EMDR, DBT, CBT and Somatic Parts Work.
I have an inquisitive mind and love to pass that curiosity onto others. I find as humans we can often be self-critical which closes the mind to self-exploration. Some of the greatest gifts we can give ourselves is kindness, compassion and curiosity as this increases our opportunity for self-awareness. My years of experience as a nurse have shown me the importance of looking at both mind and body when trying to understand potential causes and courses of action. I value input from clients and appreciate constructive feedback so I too can grow.
