Dr. Lucia Bohorquez, C. Psych.

Dr. Lucia Bohorquez, C. Psych.I am a registered child psychologist in the province of Ontario with over 20 years of experience supporting children, adolescents, and families across a wide range of mental health settings. My work has included hospitals, intensive services, day treatment programs, school boards, community mental health clinics, and private practice, allowing me to bring a well-rounded and practical perspective to each client I support.

I specialize in working with a broad range of concerns, including depression, anxiety, ADHD, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), anger management, trauma and attachment-related difficulties, school and learning challenges, parent–child relationship issues, interpersonal difficulties, and emerging personality patterns in adolescence.

My therapeutic approach is grounded in evidence-based practices, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Trauma-Focused CBT. I work from a trauma-informed framework, recognizing the impact of life experiences on emotional and behavioural development, and I tailor interventions to meet the unique needs of each child and family.

I also offer counselling services in Spanish for those who feel more comfortable expressing themselves in their first language. My goal is to provide a safe, culturally sensitive, and welcoming environment where individuals can explore their emotions, thoughts, and challenges without language barriers. Whether clients are navigating stress, anxiety, relationship difficulties, school challenges, or life transitions, I aim to help them feel understood and supported throughout the therapeutic process.

I offer comprehensive psychological and psychoeducational assessments for individuals ages 6 to 18. These assessments inform the development of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and appropriate accommodations or modifications within the school setting.

Through this process, I support children and their families by identifying and understanding cognitive, learning, and developmental challenges. My goal is to provide meaningful insights that guide recommendations and support informed decision-making, helping to meet each child’s unique learning needs and promote their overall success.

I am committed to creating a safe, compassionate, and collaborative environment where young people and their families feel understood and supported. My goal is to help clients build resilience, strengthen relationships, and develop the skills needed to navigate life’s challenges with confidence.
